Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar – A Glimpse of Our Past

las casa filipinas de acuzar

Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar – is a heritage site located in Bagac, Bataan that maintains heritage houses. The place was named Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar, Casas meaning houses and Acuzar is from the name of the owner Jose “Gerry” Acuzar. Acuzar started his collection in 2003 by carefully dismantling, restoring and rebuilding historical and architectural houses from different parts of the Philippines and brought them to Bagac, Bataan. He then opened the place to the public in 2010 allowing Filipinos and even foreigners to have a glimpse of our past.

The Acuzars was said to own 400 hectares wherein 40 is allocated f0r Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar but currently 26 hectares are occupied by houses and opened to the public.

What to expect?

Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar offers a heritage tour that will take about 30mins-1hr. The tour will give you a background of how Las Casas started and a brief or sometimes detailed history of the houses. The tour package starts from P999 up to P1899 depending on the package that you will choose visit their website for further details on this.

My Story

We arrived at around 10am and the next tour was scheduled at 10:30. The only package that doesn’t have lunch on it is the P999 which we opted to choose. It will be time consuming if we were to eat our lunch there. We still want to drop by in Dambana ng Kagitingan so we really have to save some time.

Included in the package are welcome drinks you can either have water or tamarind juice. It was my first time trying tamarind juice and — Well in my preference I would take the water if I can choose again. Well its a new taste that’s a bit sour and I didn’t like it that much.

At around 10;25 we were called for the walking tour.

I find this place suitable (in my opinion) for outdoor parties if you don’t have that much guest. And they actually rent this out as far as I remember this include rooms and a private pool with full butler service and its around 250k per night. They actually have many function halls and rooms that they rent out

Although most of the houses were dismantled and restored in Las Casa Filipinas De Acuzar, there are houses that were originally built by them and this brick house is one of them. They call this house “Casa Ladrio” which means brick house.

Upon entering and while touring in Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar we’ve seen constructions that are still ongoing just like this church.

My sister actually told me “I didn’t know that you’re into houses” and she also told me that many of her friends taking up architecture visited the site. I think it will be very helpful for aspiring architects to visit so they can see the changes that happened through the years on the design and materials of the houses. And of course it will be good for every Filipinos to have a glimpse of the past because you won’t only see how the houses look like before but you can also see through the culture we had before through the stories of the guide. I actually heard a lot of interesting stories from our guide. And I really loved the fact that I’am learning and exploring new places with my family.

How to get there?

We actually drove there for around 4 hours? but it is possible to get there thru commuting check you can check it in definitelyfilipino.com’s blogpost.
